Construction:
The pages within this section detail the methods used for the construction of individual elements of the layout. For example; baseboards, trackwork, electrics, buildings, scenery, etc. Just click on the drop-down menu from the "construction" tab above to find out how it was done.
As 'Harlyn Pier' develops so will the number of pages under this heading, giving construction details for most items on the layout.
I make no claims for the originality of any of the methods used. They happen to be what worked for me and I hope you will find the information both interesting and useful.
However, one item that usually raises questions at most shows is the type of couplings used. As this subject doesn't easily fit within any of the construction headings I've included it here:
Couplings:
I use automatic couplings to avoid the 'great hand from the sky' intruding on the scene. Also, I haven't the patience to fiddle around trying to couple three link couplings! I use a version of the 'Sprat & Winkle' couplings, now by Wizard Models, but the 4mm scale version adapted for 7mm scale use as they are less intrusive. This idea originally came from Crawley Model Railway Society but has been further developed by my group of friends.
If you are interested to read the full details or even to try the idea out yourself please download the booklet below which will give you the full information.
