Harlyn Road:
'Harlyn Road' is a joint project between three like-minded people who have similar standards in build and running qualities – an essential for such a combined effort. Unfortunately, there is a difference as regards preference for the period modelled. Two of us are interested in the BR (S) period c1960, while the third models the LSWR/SR in 1924! Thus the layout is operated with two sets of stock, usually a day for each period at exhibitions. As explained on my "Home" page, 'Harlyn Road' was the predecessor of 'Harlyn Pier'. It has now been passed on to a new owner. Callington:
'Callington' is Rob Cottrell's new 7mm finescale '0' gauge layout currently under construction and is a model of the actual station area of the terminus of the Callington branch in Devon. It is currently early days but do have a look at the website as the construction details are most interesting. In a few years it will be venturing out onto the exhibition circuit. |
Newhurst:
'Newhurst' is a new 7mm finescale '0' gauge layout constructed by John Smith and Rob Cottrell, two of my good mates who were involved in 'Harlyn Road'. It is quite a large project being a continuous run with a through station and a branch line. It attended its first exhibitions in 2017 and 2018 but has now been passed onto a new owner who resides in Scotland. Crawley Model Railway Society:
The Crawley Model Railway Society website provides information about the club and its activities. The Society was founded in 1958 by a small group of enthusiasts and by 1960 had established a permanent home. After the great storm in October 1987 totally destroyed the original clubrooms, the centre has been completely rebuilt and recently extended. They now have their own excellent facilities with space for 6 medium/large layouts, lounge/refreshment area and a layout construction room. They encourage members in all scales and gauges, and members are welcome to participate in the design, construction and operation of all layouts, not just their chosen gauge. |
Gauge 0 Guild:
The Gauge 0 Guild exists to further all forms of railway modelling in 7mm scale and on 0 gauge track. With over 5500 members including over 500 outside the U.K. the Guild is a focus for 0 gauge modellers to meet, share and enjoy their mutual interest. To find out a little more about 0 gauge modelling, please visit their website. Their quarterly Gazette, an all colour publication usually running to 96 pages, is posted to all members. All Gazettes, from the very first newsletter in 1956 are available to members on-line with a searchable index. An informative newsheet accompanies each Gazette with news of members' and groups' activities and notice of forthcoming events. In addition the Guild's comprehensive technical manual is available to members, and the whole manual is now on line.
